Book Review: “Good Chinese Wife”

good chinese wifeOne of the great things about our practice is the opportunity to meet parents from all walks of life. A mother in our practice wrote a wonderful book called Good Chinese Wife that I would love to share with you!

Susan Blumberg-Kason’s memoir gives an overview of her marriage to Cai, the “Chinese man of her dreams.” It shows the shift from a fairy tale marriage to a stressful and abusive relationship with unhealthy expectations and cultural imbalance. She also discusses the effect her strained marriage had on their newborn son, Jake. A fascinating read covering complex topics such as culture, family, and self-worth, Blumberg-Kason is fearlessly honest and shows how a mother’s love knows no geographical or cultural boundaries.

I highly recommend it, and am so privileged to get to know such talented and creative families. Fantastic work Susan!
